Abstract

In order to realize the measurement of stratified gas-liquid flow with higher liquid volume fraction, a non-axisymmetric crescent orifice flowmeter is proposed in this paper. Based on ANSYS Fluent software, the flow characteristics of gas-liquid flow through the crescent orifice have been studied. How the non-asymmetric orifice structure effect on the measurement results has been explored. The results show that after the fluid flows through the orifice plate, the void fraction and liquid velocity increase. The position of the flow field tends to be stable at about 6 D (0.3 m) downstream. In the range of 0~15% of the liquid volume fraction, there is a good linear relationship between the differential pressure of the crescent plate and liquid volume fraction. The results show that non-axisymmetric crescent orifice flowmeter has advantages in gas-liquid flow measurement with higher liquid volume fraction.
