Abstract

A theoretical model on the individually-switchable multi-wavelength fiber ring laser is presented, which uses semiconductor optical amplifier with novel switchable band-pass filters. The switchable band-pass filters are based on a fiber Sagnac loop interferometer incorporating both fiber Bragg Gratings and polarization controller. Theoretically analysis reveals that the proposed multi-wavelength laser has a high output performance of independently switching at arbitrary lasing wavelength and has a high extinction ratio for wavelength-division multiplexing source.
