Abstract

This paper is for real-time monitoring ice thickness problem of overhead lines, modeling the sag difference monitoring model, which is based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensing technology and parabolic method. The model takes advantage of the overhead line sag difference constant of two monitoring points, and achieves absolute stress change values, which effectively offset various factors, such as the wind load and thermal expansion and contraction, in the impact of the model. The performance comparative analysis is carried out between the results of the model and synchronous monitoring results of vernier caliper. Experimental measuring results show that under the same conditions, the similarity of results between two methods is very high. The accuracy of monitoring results of the model can meet the project requirements and it can monitor ice thickness of overhead lines effectively in real time.
