Abstract

When the underground metal pipeline is powered by direct current, the magnetic field will be generated around it, and the buried information of the pipeline can be deduced by the change of the magnetic field. Therefore, a method of detecting underground metal pipeline by magnetic gradient is introduced. The mathematical relationship between the magnetic gradient and the buried depth of underground pipeline is derived. The theoretical feasibility of this method is verified by forward simulation, then the physical experiment proves that this method has high detection accuracy.
