Abstract

This paper uses the finite element method to study the interaction between laser-generated ultrasonic wave and the angled surface crack. Laser-generated ultrasonic wave propagation images at different times has been analyzed in detail, when laser-generated R-wave arrived at the angled surface crack, the maximum amplitude of laser-generated R-wave increases, the maximum amplitude of R-wave increases with the crack orientation angle θ decreases from 60° to 15°, the amplitude of the corresponding center frequency spectrum increases with θ decreases. The numerical result shows that the method can effective detect different angled surface crack.
