Abstract
The rapid economic development in East Asia and the growing importance of the role of international joint ventures (IJVs) in the region call on the academic researchers to advance out understanding and rationalization of IJV activities in that region. In this context, the Second Conference on Joint Ventures in East Asia was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 16-17, 1993. A total of 33 research papers were presented and five of them were included in this book. In this paper, we first provide a state-of-the-art review of research on international joint ventures in East Asia. Then, we discuss how the papers in this collection advance our understanding in this area. Finally, we point out the future areas of research on international joint ventures in East Asia.
