Abstract

The editors of the Review of Higher Education and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) bring to the attention of the scholarly community institutional advancement, a developing field of professional activity, and its associated research questions. The guest editors, in this opening essay, introduce the articles that follow which incorporate literature reviews, research, and the expertise of other administrative fields for its methods.
