Abstract

A high efficiency simplified finite element analysis method is presented to analyze the iced galloping, which is characterized by large amplitude vibrations of iced, multi-span, electrical transmission conductors. Based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA, the springs-transmission conductors model was established that springs were used to copy the actions of tower to transmission conductors, the Mixed form-finding method is presented and which take the initial form of fixing wires and icing load into count, numerical wind tunnel technology based on CFD numerical simulation is used to study the aerodynamic characteristics of the ice-coated conductor. A simplified galloping analysis method of multi-span transmission conductors was proposed and verified. Based on the 1000kV Han River long-span power transmission tower line project, simplified calculation of transmission conductors galloping was performed.
