Abstract

Infrared dim small target tracking is a hot topic in recent years. The basic idea for implementing visual tracking is composed of finding the target object in a video or sequence of images, then determining its exact position in the next successive frames and generating the corresponding trajectory of this object. Due to the characteristics of complex background, weak target signal strength, fuzzy edges, scene occlusion and serious noise interference, infrared dim small target tracking is regarded as a challenging problem, which has been paid attention to in the field of target tracking. Better real-time performance, higher detection probability and lower virtual scene rate have become the targets pursued by researchers. In recent years, the infrared dim small target tracking field develops rapidly, more and more new methods are proposed. In this paper, common methods and technical development of infrared dim small target tracking are summarized. Based on introducing the development of some traditional algorithms, the principle and improvement of discriminative tracking approach in the infrared small target tracking field in recent years are mainly introduced.
