Abstract

A 3D model of straight-through labyrinth liquid seal for water pump was built to analyse the fluid-induced forces. We found that the eccentricity and pressure difference have great impact on both the tangential force and the radial force. The tangential force increases along with the rotating speed. When tooth hight is Th=2.4mm, the tangential force comes to the minimum. When tooth width Tw =2.0mm, the radial force comes to the maximum. The tooth numbers have a great influence on the fluid-induced force. The more number of sealing teeth will cause the instability the sea.
