Abstract
In nature there exist many mechanisms giving rise to self-regulation. One such mechanism is the division of labor in insect societies. However, it may be simple and difficult to be applied in practice. Due to these reasons, an improved model of labor division is proposed considering multi-states and capability constraints of ant individual. At last, two simulation experiments, where one is a task allocation problem of agile manufacturing mode corresponding to a basic mathematical model for labor division and the other is a logistic distribution problem corresponding to an improved mathematical model, are given so as to verify its efficiency and effectiveness and some meaningful results are obtained.
