Abstract

Imaging is a key factor for the steel sheet's automatic surface inspection system (ASIS) based on machine vision technology. Aiming at obtaining high-quality images of machine vision inspection system on steel sheet's surface, researched some key technologies of imaging system based on Line-scan CCD cameras. An illumination model on steel surface has been developed which is build on conditions of circumstance, radiation and reflection. Further analysis, the rules of illumination transfer and compensation on the optical imaging system were deduced. The electro-optical imaging system was designed according to experimental detection tasks. The results of further experiments have proved that the validity of the illumination model and the optimum imaging modes of surface defects on steel plate were proved.
