Abstract

With the development of automotive technology, the complexity and information relevance of the interface of vehicle-mounted interactive systems have been continuously improved. The development of the interface of vehicle-mounted systems has led to the emergence of a large number of functions, and at the same time, visual ICONS representing these functions have also appeared in a large number. However, the disadvantage of this progress is that when drivers use these services, It increases the probability of distraction in the primary task of ensuring safe driving when using these services. In this paper, we propose and validate a method to investigate and optimize icon semantics in safety-critical user interfaces, thus providing icon design insights for matching ICONS and functions to proper usage logic while driving.
