Abstract

Since the 21st century, with the continuous development of the information society and the popularization of mobile communication, the amount of Internet data is more and more huge. The interaction is becoming increasingly frequent, followed by a severe challenge to the communication network. In the context of demand for large-capacity, high-efficiency transmission systems, high-speed optical transmission system has got more and more attention. Superchannel is a promising technology to realize high-speed optical transmission with large capacity and high efficiency, which can be constructed by combining optical frequency comb with Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), coherent optical detection. The optical frequency comb is composed of many frequency components with fixed frequency spacing, coherent and stable phase relations, and isometric spectral lines with ultra-low phase noise. It is an ideal multi-carrier light source, which can greatly improve the transmission capacity and make full use of the limited available bandwidth. In this paper, several optical comb generation methods are investigated and compared. Then high-speed optical transmission system based on optical frequency comb, and the application of optical frequency comb in high-speed optical label switching system are also studied.
