Abstract

The development and improvement of tourism economy with regard to quantity as well as quality is an inevitable process. In this process of transition, the tourism industry is also facing changes due to extensive development mode to sustainable and high-quality development mode, which is also the requirement to address the growing demand in the tourism industry. The proposal of the 14th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development and the long-term objectives for 2005 emphasize that the key to economic and social development is to bring supply side structural reform. Through market allocation of resources and more favorable industrial policies, the supply side structural reform will promote effective supply, accelerate development of medium and high-end products, optimize the tourism supply structure, promote the upgrading of tourism from low-level supply–demand balance to high-level supply–demand balance, and break the existing path dependence of industrial development.
