Abstract

The field testing and assessment technology for evaluating the power performance and power quality performance of an ocean energy converter plays a crucial role in enhancing the power generation capabilities of the tested converter. Moreover, it facilitates the advancement and growth of the ocean energy converter industry. On the basis of analyzing the current research and development status and test requirements of tidal energy converters and wave energy converters around the world, a field testing and assessment method for power performance and power quality performance of ocean energy converters was explored, measurement requirements for tidal parameters, wave parameters and electric parameters were proposed, and field testing systems for power performance and power quality performance of ocean energy converters were investigated and constructed. The field testing systems and assessment methods investigated in the present study were used to conduct field testing work on a tidal energy converter and a wave energy converter, and the test data was processed and analyzed to obtain the power characteristics performance and power quality characteristics performance of the tested ocean energy converters. The present study not only provides a field testing and assessment technology for ocean energy converters, but also a reference for future field testing and assessment work of ocean energy converters.
