Abstract

Polymer anti-seepage wall is a new-type reinforcement method for earth dams, the study on the dynamic soil pressure of earth dam with polymer anti-seepage wall can provide reference for aseismic design of earth dams. In this paper, the distribution law of dynamic soil pressure for both earth dam with polymer anti-seepage wall and earth dam with traditional concrete anti-seepage wall under earthquake are studied by model test and numerical simulation. The results show the lateral soil pressure and vertical soil pressure of the earth dam with polymer anti-seepage wall are less than that of the earth dam with concrete anti-seepage wall and the stress concentration always occurs at the downstream edge of the dam with polymer anti-seepage wall. It is probably because the polymer anti-seepage wall can produce the coordinated deformation with the soil under the earthquake. The concrete anti-seepage wall has high stiffness and the lateral jacking effect surrounding it should be taken seriously. The research results in this paper provide a theoretical reference for the seismic safety of earth dam with polymer anti-seepage wall and popularization and application of new anti-seepage walls in the earthquake area.
