Abstract

This study investigated the directional blasting and damage evaluation of multi-slit charge by dynamic caustics experiment system. The results show that directional blasting can be achieved in the three-slit and four-slit charges. The prominent cracks in the slit direction are longer than in other directions. Four-slit charge cracks deviation angle is greater than the three-slit charge, while the length of the crack is excessively less than the three-slit charge. The stress concentration in the y-direction on the lower side of the borehole causes cracks’ deviation. The sum of the peak energy release rate of the four-slit charge is lower than the three-slit charge. The four-slit charge energy is more toward the protected part.
