Abstract

Aiming at the problem that the traditional MUSIC algorithm on the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation technique under the low signal to noise ratio(SNR) cannot distinguish the direction of arrival of strongly correlated signals, an improved MUSIC algorithm is proposed. The covariance matrix method is used to decompose features to construct the noise subspace, and then the two strongly correlated signals with small angle difference can be identified in the low signal-to-noise ratio environment. Taking the signal-to-noise ratio reduced to 4dB as an example, the spectral peaks of two correlated signals of MUSIC algorithm in imitated diagram have disappeared, but the improved MUSIC algorithm can still distinguish the spectral peaks clearly. The results show that the improved MUSIC algorithm has higher resolution than MUSIC algorithm under the same conditions, and can be applied in harsher environment.
