Abstract

One of the keys to realize current differential protection based on 5G communication in the distribution network is the data synchronization between the protection devices on both sides. In this paper, the feasibility of applying several methods for data synchronization to 5G current differential protection is analyzed, and then a synchronization scheme for 5G differential protection based on precise time marker is proposed. This solution can use the time service of GPS/BDS or 5G network, and use the sampling count time marker to realize the synchronization of the data sequences of devices on both sides. It is not affected by data channel delay jitter and ensures the reliability of local protection sampling. This synchronization scheme was tested and verified in the 5G IoT laboratory. The test results show that this scheme can effectively realize the data synchronization of the differential protection of the 5G communication distribution network.
