Abstract

The piezoelectric ceramics sensors are embedded in the concrete columns with large and small eccentric compression for crack online monitoring. The digital oscilloscope receiver is applied to obtain in real-time the full waveform characteristics of acoustic emission signal during the column damage process. Using signal processing and passive monitoring technology, this article conducts crack development of real-time dynamic monitoring and evaluation on the damage process of the two specimens by the piezoelectric sensors. The experiment results show that the generation and development of the cracks are obviously companying with the acoustic emission phenomena. The energy accumulation process of the acoustic emission signal has obvious deference from the two specimens and shows basically the property of the cracks development. This technology opens a new road for real-time monitoring and damage detection on line for cracks of concrete structures.
