Abstract
This article is based on horizontal data in 2009 about 7 districts which is located in Three Gorges Reservoir Area using Principal Component Analysis to evaluate each district's innovation capability and capacity for sustainable development and calculate the innovation capacity index and sustainable development index. Each district's horizontal data, which is about innovation capacity and sustainable development index, was analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient method. The author aims at revealing the innovation capability's relation with sustainable development, in Three Gorge Reservoir Area, provide new programs which can be implemented for sustainable development of the reservoir area. According to the analysis result, we found that innovation ability and sustainable development appeared positive correlation in Three Gorges Reservoir Area. Therefore the local government and Chinese central government in the processing of policy making and policy implementation should consider how to strengthen regional innovative capacity.
