Abstract

In this work, the sensitivity distributions and the image reconstruction of a 12-electrode CCERT system under two different excitation patterns, the conventional one-electrode excitation pattern and the new proposed three-electrode excitation pattern, are studied. Simulation results show that the sensitivity distribution of CCERT under the three-electrode excitation pattern has better uniformity and higher average sensitivity than that under the one-electrode excitation pattern. Image reconstruction results are obtained by the linear back projection (LBP) algorithm. Results show that the image reconstruction results under the three-electrode excitation pattern are comparable with that under the one-electrode excitation pattern. Under either of the two patterns, the reconstructed images have good accordance with the actual distribution inside the pipe. This work verifies the feasibility and potential of the new excitation pattern, and may provide useful reference for further research on excitation patterns and sensor design of CCERT.
