Abstract

This paper proposes potential applications for Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) in the balancing energy market. Starting with illustrating the state of the art of DLT, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages and carrying out a comparison of the different concepts Blockchain, Tangle and Hashgraph. In addition, the structure of the process behind the balancing energy market is investigated and presented. Furthermore, the identification of potential applications for DLT in the balancing market is carried out. The basis for this is the execution and analysis of expert interviews and an analysis of publicly available documents.
