Abstract

With its higher spectral efficiency, advanced modulation format optical signal is more suitable for the 10 Gigabit uplink demand of data backbone network and the developing needs of smart grid business during the 14th Five-Year Plan. Aiming at the defect that the traditional optical amplifier can not realize the phase regeneration of advanced modulation format optical signal, this paper puts forward the solution of phase sensitive amplifier (PSA) to realize the phase regeneration of optical signal. By analyzing the principle of four-wave mixing and phase sensitive amplification, the optical phase regeneration is explained with the amplitude-phase characteristic curves of PSA. At the same time, taking the quadrature quaternary phase modulation (QPSK) signal regeneration used in 100G OTN system of electric power telecommunication system as an example, the feasibility and effectiveness of advanced modulation format optical signal regeneration are demonstrated by formula derivation and simulation.
