Abstract

Most modern multimedia applications rely on a group communication pattern. To protect the group communication data during transit, a symmetric key called group key must be used to encrypt all the group communication. Group rekeying is a key management mechanism that ensures that the group key is rekeyed upon every single change in membership. However, for most current group rekeying schemes, to rekey the group key, various degrees of side effects will be induced upon all the members in the same group. In this paper, based on trusted platform technology, we propose the first perfect zero side effect group rekeying scheme at the time of writing.
