Abstract

Infrared scanning temperature measurements are applied more and more widely in rotary kiln applications. However, the current infrared scanning temperature measurement system only locates the maximum temperature of the surface of the rotary kiln. When the temperature of some places on the surface of the rotary kiln is close to the highest temperature, these positions should also be located, but the current infrared scanning temperature measurement system does not achieve positioning of temperature data for these occurrences. To address the current system’s disadvantage of only locating the highest temperature’s position, this paper designs and implements a multi-interval maximum temperature tracking algorithm on the surface of a rotary kiln using the infrared temperature measurement system based on equal-angle scanning. The algorithm is built to run as follows: first, the rotary kiln is divided into several intervals; then, according to the relationship between the length of each interval and the distance between temperature points, each interval’s temperature data is calculated; finally, all temperature data for each interval is compared to obtain the highest temperature for each interval and to locate its position. The experiments show that the proposed method can locate the position of the highest temperature of each interval, and the average error of the location of the highest temperature spots is 0.22.
