Abstract

In this paper, a new design of independent metering valve system is proposed for saving energy in boom excavator. The proposed system uses three Electro-Hydraulic Poppet valve (EHPV) and one directional control valve which reduce one EHPV compared to conventional independent metering valve (CIMV). Besides, an energy management strategy is designed to operate the system. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, some simulations are carried out based on an AMESim/Matlab co-simulation model. The results demonstrate that the energy saving achieve up to 25%. Consequently, the proposed system can not only reduce the installation cost but also improve fuel economy.
