Abstract

In this paper, an asymmetric dual-polarized antenna scheme based on substrate integrated coaxial line (SICL) resonator slot is proposed. The designed dual-polarized antenna is composed of a SICL slot and an E-shaped microstrip patch. The two parts are stacked, which are realized by printed circuit technology, and own the advantages of integration and planar structure. The two polarization ports are asymmetric, but form an orthogonal radiation field in free space, producing a dual-polarized mode of operation. The electromagnetic simulation and optimization results of the designed antenna show that VSWR of two ports is less than 2 and the port isolation is greater than 20dB within operating bandwidth. The designed dual-polarized antenna based on the SICL cavity ring slot and microstrip patch has a radiation gain of about 5.9 dB and 5.8 dB on two polarization ports respectively, and the axial ratio of main radiation direction is greater than 30 dB. The dual-polarized antenna structure proposed in this paper, is simple and easy to design for engineering applications.
