Abstract

Background/Objectives: The study investigated the effect of Dementia Simulation Program for undergraduate students’ understanding toward dementia. A CoTras was applied to 38 undergraduate students who visit to Seongnam Senior Experience Complex. Methods/Statistical Analysis: We used the Dementia Simulation Program for research that called CoTras (a Korean Computer-based cognitive training system). All participants were evaluated with two standardized assessment tools (awareness and attitude toward dementia) before and after the planned computer based cognitive rehabilitation sessions. The results were as follows. Cotras statistically changed in attitude(p=0.000) toward dementia after simulation intervention. Findings: The Computer-based cognitive rehabilitation with CoTras program may be helpful for undergraduate students in changing the attitude toward dementia. There are limits to students to understand dementia theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom, which means that will help us understand the dementia indirectly through the experience and training. In particular, it is considered to be promoting the understanding of dementia in memory and calculations test. Improvements/Applications: Further studies are needed to verify the effect of CoTras program on various groups. This means that understanding of dementia by age group.
