Abstract

With the development of electronic components towards miniaturization and integration, permittivity, permeability, loss tangent and other microwave parameters have become the characteristics of new microwave materials. The relative complex permittivity and relative magnetic permeability of solid materials are the most important for microwave electrical elements, componentsor antennas design. In this paper we introduce the method of measuring relative complex permittivity and relative magnetic permeability of solid materials at 30MHz∼50GHz frequencies using air coaxial line and waveguide. The paper describes how to make phase compensation to solve the issue brought by the calibration of the network analyzer and how to re-calculate the S parameters using phase compensation technology.
