Abstract

This paper presents the influence of saturation and cross-coupling effects to the direct- and quadrature-axis (d- and q-axis) inductance of an interior permanent magnet (PM) synchronous in-wheel motor over the entire range of d- and q-axis excitations. The conventional two-axis equivalent magnetic circuit is modified in order to include the influence of saturation and cross-coupling effects on the variation of self- and cross-coupling inductances in the d- and q-axis. The two-axis machine model parameters are calculated by the finite element analysis software Ansoft. And the logical analysis of the simulation results is given and the evaluation of two-axis model parameters reveals that the saturation and cross-coupling effect always exists in both axes, especially in high-current high-torque regime.
