Abstract

This paper studies the performance of personalized heating by radiant floor panels on the thermal microenvironment surrounding human subjects in hot summer and cold winter areas in China. Through experiment investigations and numerical simulations, the thermal microenvironment around the human body by heating floors was studied at room temperature of 12, 14, and 16 °C. The following conclusions are obtained: (1) Thermal sensation of different parts of human body is different under the same environment; the thermal sensation of same part is not same for different subjects. (2) When the radiant floor panels were placed under the chair and desk, the individual parts of the human body still feel cold at 12 °C; all parts of the human body are close to the heat neutrality except head at 14 °C; all parts of the human body have exceeded the heat neutrality and feet feel slightly warmer at 16 °C. (3) Numerical simulations found that four heating radiant floor panels have some effect on improving the thermal microenvironment surrounding human body.
