Abstract

Magnetic fluid sealers (MFS) are used for sealing rotating shafts in electric motors operating under high humidity, dust and contamination. Friction moment and heating are the most important operational parameters of the MFS, which are influenced by design and operating parameters: speed; operating time; temperature; gap, taking into account roughness and undulation. Models of gaps of magneto-fluidic sealers MFS formed by surfaces with different roughness values are obtained. The contact areas of the magnetic fluid (MF) with surfaces for MFS at different roughness values are determined. The contact area of the MF with rough wavy surfaces was determined by mathematical modeling. Experimental studies were performed at the experimental stand. Replaceable bushings and a pole made of different steels with different roughness values were used. The developed experimental setup allows us to conduct research on the impact of changes in design and operating parameters on the performance indicators of MFS.
