Abstract

Industrial Ethernet are widely used in industrial control system, but the requirement of high reliability and stability for control system limits the application of industrial Ethernet. Providing high available fault-tolerant capability on the large control systems becomes a very important issue. In this paper, three industrial Ethernet based redundancy protocols are presented: They are Single-LAN mode redundancy protocol, Dual-network backup and parallel mode redundancy protocol. Based on the EPA (Ethernet for Plant Automation EPA) communication protocol stack, the system architecture, frame structure and communication procedures are introduced. The performance of these approaches is demonstrated through experiment and analysis.
