Abstract

A dual-band millimeter-wave cloud radar is studied in this paper. Firstly, the available frequencies for the dual-band operation are analyzed, including several atmospheric window, such as 94 GHz, 140 GHz and 220 GHz. Then, the equivalent radar cross section of the particles in cloud are studied, which is dependent on the particle' size and available frequencies. Based on the above analysis, 94 GHz and 220 GHz are chosen and the dual-band radar is designed.
