Abstract

This research note sets out the dependent measures for an analysis of the leisure orientations of Japanese managers employed in the UK (N = 313). Four scales are described; Psychological Health, Self-Esteem, Life Satisfaction and Leisure Boredom. A description of each is provided with the measures taken to improve their psychometric properties outlined; the scales are cross validated with ‘Categories of Leisure Experience’ and are seen as a useful way of conceptualizing and mapping aspects of psychological well-being. Considerable changes have been made to the original scales, in order to furnish more appropriate tools for those researching and conceptualizing the leisure domain.
