Abstract

The report summarizes preliminary findings of the Aerospace Transportation Division Research Committee in identifying civil engineering research needs in air transportation. The report considers the next important task of establishing research priorities and programs in this field. The study was also used as a part of the overall civil engineering research needs study being prepared by Colorado State University under the joint sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Colorado State University. The report consists of three parts: sources and review strategy, identification of principal sources of information, and overview of findings of the Committee at this intermediate point in the investigation.
