Abstract

AbstractResearch led teaching is a matter which has recently attracted a considerable amount of attention, particularly from those in higher education who are of the opinion that we need to value the link between teaching and research. Examining the relationship between teaching and research on two modules — one undergraduate, the other post graduate, this paper draws upon the students’ experiences of research led teaching to provide evidence of how they value the link between teaching and research and the connection research led teaching has to learning. It provides evidence to suggest that students value the link between teaching and research, placing particular weight on research led teaching and the bearing which it has on the quality of their learning experiences.
