Abstract

Based on the first shallow buried tunnel passing below an active railway station in loess area in China, four different excavation methods are discussed employing FLAC 3D. By analyzing tunnel deformation, track settlement and construction factors, it is found that center cross-diaphragm method is optimum. Finally, parameter optimization of center cross-diaphragm method is carried out. We provide a conclusion that smaller-step bigger-space and keeping core soil about 50% in upper half section are best for controlling rail track settlement. This paper can also provide a useful reference for related projects.
