Abstract

To promote closer scientific liaison between petroleum geologists and organic chemists, an Organic Geochemistry Group was formed at the 1959 Geological Society of America meeting in Pittsburgh. The purpose of this group is to encourage and foster studies in the origin, nature, and diagenesis of organic substances as related to their geological occurrence and history.
