Abstract

ABSTRACT This exploratory study of 189 counselor education master’s students examined research competence, research motivation, and advisory working alliance using quantitative research methods. Statistically significant relationships between research competence and intrinsic research motivation, extrinsic research motivation, and perceived rapport with and identification with academic advisors were found. Suggestions for developing research identity in master’s students are discussed.
