Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores data management perspectives of aerospace, industrial and mechanical science engineering faculty affiliated with (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)). The author conducted fourteen semi-structured interviews and analyzed them using a qualitative inductive coding method. This study builds upon previous work and seeks to explore how the elements of data management planning align with researchers’ workflow, challenges, and awareness to research data services. Overall, the goal of this study is to gain a better understanding of these researcher’s data management practices and enhance the research data services provided to faculty and research groups. All these responses inform existing research data management services.
