Abstract

Compared to other cities, urban railway transit systems in Shanghai have been developed rapidly. Urban railway leads to more convenient travelling, but also causes various rail problems; typically rail corrugation is inevitable. To get continuous track of irregularity data and rail dynamics data, surveys including rail static tests and rail dynamic tests are carried out on Shanghai Metro, where rail corrugation is severe. With the obtained irregularity data, the wavelength and amplitude of rail corrugation can be analyzed. A comparative analysis is also made based on rail corrugation characteristics of different track structure and different line types to obtain the effects of rail structures on corrugation development rate. With track irregularity data and rail dynamics data, the effects of rail grinding on rail corrugation and rail dynamic parameters are analyzed.
