Abstract

The University of Mississippi provides graduate education for a significant fraction of US students pursuing careers in physical acoustics. The education program emphasizes traditional physics coursework with research opportunities in acoustics. Research is conducted in a new, dedicated state-of-the-art research facility with access to modern data acquisition and analysis systems. Research projects include agroacoustics, outdoor sound propagation, thermoacoustics, acoustically active surfaces, active noise control, nondestructive testing and machine perception and non-linear acoustics.
