Abstract
The studies of platelet antigens and antibodies play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of various immune thrombocytopenias. The level of basic research and immune technology on platelet antigens and antibodies is relatively backward compared with the blood group genetics and immunohematology on red blood cells. Especially in China, more studies should be done on platelet immunology, such as discovery of novel ethnicity-specific platelet antigens, antibodies identification, and immune problems on platelets transfusion, to promote the development of platelet immunology and clinical application in our country.
