Abstract

As a new technology, pulse oximetry is widely used in anesthesia and clinical care medicine to provide noninvasive ox-ygenation information in the last 20 years. However, pulse oximetry is vulnerable to impact of hypothermia and low perfusion. Internal pulse oximetry can directly detect oxygen saturation signal from core body by placing a reflectance SpO2 probe in the physiological cavity such us esophagus, trachea, vagina, and therefore solve such problems mentioned above. Key words: pulse oximetry; transesophageal pulse oximetry; tracheal pulse oximetry; fetal pulse oximetry
