Abstract

In recent years, the ice melting techniques for power transmission line has been making great achievements in China, but none of them can be applied to the deicing of OPGW (optical fiber composite overhead ground wire). OPGW contains communication optical fiber, which has special structure and high requirements for ice melting temperature. At present, deicing technologies can not be directly applied to the deicing of OPGW, and icing of OPGW becomes a technical challenge. Based on the DC ice melting technology and considering the characteristics of OPGW line, this paper develops an adjustable voltage DC ice melting power supply to meet the needs of OPGW ice melting. The fuzzy PID control method of DC ice melting device is simulated and the prototype is trial manufactured successfully. A promising ice melting performance is obtained through the field engineering test.
