Abstract

Face detection is an active research area in the field of computer vision. It can be applied to various applications as the basis of specific fields such as face recognition and human-computer interaction. For a long time, the complex external environment has a huge impact on the accuracy of face detection, especially the different illumination will make the gray level distribution of 2D face images uneven, resulting in sharp increase of local contrast and affecting the accuracy of face detection. In order to solve this problem, this paper has developed a face detection method based on depth map with haar-like features. To verify our work, the traditional face detection algorithm in OpenCV is compared with ours under different illumination conditions.
