Abstract

With the continuous development of power grid capacity, the short-circuit current in local areas is too high, which seriously threatens the stable and safe operation of the system. The paper proposes a multi-break series connection high-voltage fast switching type fault current limiter, through the isolation transformer to operate the mechanism and the break isotropic, using "one with two" type electromagnetic repulsion mechanism, eliminating the insulated tie, not only to achieve rapid breaking and closing, but also to solve the fault current limiter using capacitive voltage transformer energy supply when the system is not charged with the problem of breaking and closing. Finally, a 220kV transmission line is selected for engineering application, and a single-phase artificial short-circuit test is conducted to verify the short-circuit current limiting capability of the fast-switching type short-circuit current limiter in the process of single-phase grounding of the line to ensure the feasibility and safety of the line circuit breaker action.
